Privacy Policy

ShareCam ("we", "us") is an event photo-gallery app operated by an independent developer. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your choices are. The short version: we collect only what the product needs, we never sell your data, and event photos belong to the people at the event.
What we collect
- Event content. Photos and videos that hosts and guests add to an event album, plus the event's name, date and optional cover photo.
- Names. Guests join with a name or nickname so the host can see who joined and whose photos are whose.
- Account details (optional). Hosts may add a name and e-mail to keep their events across devices. Hosting works without an account.
- Purchase records. Package purchases are processed by Apple; we receive a receipt that unlocks the package — never your card details.
- Basic diagnostics. Crash logs and anonymized usage counters that help us keep uploads reliable.
- Notification token (optional). If you allow notifications, we store the device token Apple issues us, together with your chosen app language so alerts arrive in the right one. It is used only to send you the alerts described below, it is never readable by other users, and turning notifications off in iOS Settings stops it being used.
What we don't do
- We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We do not run third-party advertising or tracking in the app.
- We do not use your photos to train AI models.
- We do not read your photo library — only the items you explicitly choose to upload leave your device.
Who can see event photos
Visibility is controlled by the event host: in an open gallery every guest of that event sees the shared album; in piggy-bank mode only the host sees everything and guests see just their own uploads. Event albums are reachable only through the event's QR code or 6-character invite code, and hosts can pause new joins or remove a guest at any time.
Storage and deletion
Each package includes a storage window (7 days to 12 months). We send hosts a notification before a gallery expires — photos are never silently deleted. Hosts can delete individual photos or the entire event at any time, which permanently removes its content. Guests can delete their own uploads.
Notifications
Notifications are optional and are only requested once you create or join an event. We use them for things that happen in your own albums: someone liked your photo, a private album was revealed, your first guest joined, an album is filling up or about to expire, or a photo was reported to you as host. We do not send marketing or promotional notifications.
Face data (upcoming feature)
We are preparing an optional feature that lets you find the photos you appear in by taking a selfie. It is not live yet. When it ships it will be off by default, opt-in for each person individually, and processed entirely on your own device — no face data will ever reach our servers or be shared with anyone, including the event host.
Declining will never affect your access to an album, and you will never be scanned because somebody else opted in. The feature will not be offered in Illinois, Texas or Washington. Your rights
You can request a copy or deletion of data connected to you at any time by writing to [email protected]. If you are in the EU/EEA, UK or Türkiye, you additionally have the rights granted by GDPR/KVKK, including complaint to your supervisory authority.
Children
ShareCam is not directed at children under 13, and hosts are responsible for the audience of their events.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and, for material changes, note them in the app.
